Summary:
The Children's Health Administrative Fellowship is an immersive 12-month training program for Master's level aspiring health care professionals. Fellows gain comprehensive exposure to hospital leadership and operations through project work and observational rotations. This includes attending Executive Leadership Team meetings, leading strategic cross-functional projects, receiving 1:1 mentorship from senior leaders and attending a national conference funded by Children's Health. The Administrative Fellow works under the close supervision of administrative preceptor(s) and is expected to solve problems by reference to general work instructions or occupational practices, procedures, and precedents.
Highlighted Responsibilities:
- Participate actively in educational rotations through the functional areas of the health care system, under the guidance of administrative preceptor(s); without engaging in active patient care
- Evaluate and analyze facts, data, and information; identify patterns; draw conclusions; and devise solutions to problems, studies, and projects of moderate scope and difficulty; present primary and contingency plans to project sponsor(s) for approval; and gather and develop related information for presentation to internal stakeholders
- Work with managers and administrators in identifying potential areas that require improvement, e.g. decreasing operating costs, increasing revenues, improving patient flow, or facilitating communication
- Interview individuals to obtain limited, specific information on which to base decisions concerning various projects and work assignments
- Attend various interdisciplinary meetings in an observational and participatory capacity; and perform other duties and special projects as required
