Our Information Technology department is seeking an Application Engineer to join our growing team in our Worcester, MA Corporate Headquarters (Hybrid) or possible remote work consideration. This is an exciting opportunity for an Application Engineer looking for an opportunity to develop and deliver innovative solutions. As a member of the Application Engineering team, you are expected to have a strong technical acumen with an in-depth understanding of the software development life cycle and associated processes and have a keen interest in the creative implementation of technology solutions. This is a Full-time, Exempt role. IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL: Interpret technical design and requirement specifications in order to develop solutions which deliver application functionality. This may include creating new apps as well as enhancements to existing ones. Collaborate with project team members including app architects, business analysts, app dev teams, quality assurance, external/offshore partners, and project management. Demonstrate a solid understanding of software development life cycle processes including requirements gathering, analysis and design, effective use of development tools and technologies, release and version control, testing methodologies, and deployment management. Identify potential app development or project risks and prescribe mitigations through effective use of communication. Utilize source code management and processes to promote code through multiple environments (i.e. Dev, Integration, Test, Prod). Support defect lifecycle by triaging and mitigating defects identified during quality assurance and business partner validation. Adhere to all quality standards and procedures. Perform thorough unit testing to verify the accuracy, security and quality of all software developed. This may include preparation of sample test data, execution of programs, and system integration testing. Support the planning and implementation of software releases into the production environment. Contribute to project planning, design, and estimating activities. Stay current and build knowledge of multiple programming languages and related development tools. Build knowledge of P&C insurance concepts and Hanover systems. WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY: 2+ years' experience in IIB/ACE development including: Message flow and sub-flow design and development Design and build message models and transformation logic Understanding of libraries and component reuse Knowledge of integration patterns and practices Implementation of security standards, logging, and exception handling within message flows Troubleshooting, debugging, and performance tuning of integration solutions Experience with SQL development (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2) ACE Toolkit expertise 2+ years' experience in ESQL and Java development Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field. Must be eligible to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future (ie. US Citizen or Greencard holder) Ability to analyze and solve problems Exposure with other IBM related solutions, such as: IBM DataPower, DB2, WebSphere App Server, API Connect Experience with Azure Integration Services API management skills (preferably Data Power or Mulesoft) Effective communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Initiative, adaptability, and willingness to learn A self-starter who delivers high quality work and can adapt to new challenges, either on their own or as part of a team Knowledge and experience with several of the following technologies: ESQL, Java, XSLT APIs, Web Services, REST Services, Graph SQL JSON, XML, XSD, WSDL CI/CD - UrbanCode, Jenkins, GitHub Tomcat/Websphere Spring/Hibernate J2EE technologies Eclipse/Intellij Linux CAREER DEVELOPMENT: It's not just a job, it's a career, and we are here to support you every step of the way.
