Pharmacy Application System Administrator
role supports the pharmacy and collaborates with the IT team. It involves mid to low level support (testing, integration, and implementation) of applications and interfaces that deliver IT tools and support business functions across the pharmacy. The role also includes project management, requirements definition, problem resolution, and vendor coordination. Responsibilities
Evaluate requests and consult on design for new or modified computer programs, solutions, reports, and interfaces to determine feasibility and compatibility with current systems. Assist with developing solutions for larger and complex projects, including best practices. Formulate, develop, and document steps to achieve requirements. Review plans with management/peers as appropriate. Develop and maintain clear documentation describing program development, modifications, and troubleshooting. Update system and support documentation as needed to reflect changes. Update management and relevant stakeholders on progress regarding tasks, projects, and issues through reports. Responsible for program design and setup in the pharmacy system. Assist other IT teams with product selection and provide operational evaluations to ensure solutions meet business requirements. Adapt to new requirements and technologies to meet standardization protocols. May guide staff and pharmacy management to ensure best practices. Serve as a technical resource to the pharmacy, maintaining high service levels. Participate in initiatives to improve efficiency and meet institutional goals. Support pharmacy program implementations through workflow creation, IVR flows, recordings, and other technical support. Act as a liaison between pharmacy operations and external pharmacy support vendors. Perform Quality Assurance or UAT testing on automated pharmacy and shipping technologies. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required Education and Experience : Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and technical background. At least two (2) years of pharmacy experience covering functional areas like order entry, medical records, filling, inventory, etc. Advanced knowledge of medical terminology, medication names, and pharmacy terminology. Proficient in English (reading, writing, speaking, understanding). Preferred Education and Experience : One (1) year of specialty pharmacy technician experience. Certification through PTCB or similar agency. Licensed pharmacy technician by the Indiana Board of Pharmacy. Experience in customer service and insurance procedures. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Ability to handle ambiguity, follow processes, perform accurate data entry, and multitask effectively. Strong computer skills, basic math, understanding of medical and dispensing systems. Knowledge of medication names, recognition of subtle differences, and ability to work under stress. Prioritize tasks, serve as a liaison, manage resources, and ensure timely project completion. Physical Requirements : Work is performed 100% indoors. Exposure to noise and vibrations. Reaching, handling, feeling, standing, and sitting for extended periods.
