General Description
Position Summary The Department of Surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Colorectal Surgery at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level. This position is based at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, with clinical responsibilities at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. The ideal candidate will join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, innovation, and research within a leading academic health system. The role is suitable for a surgeon who has completed training and gained experience in clinical and academic colorectal surgery in a collaborative, high-volume setting.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver comprehensive, evidence-based care in colorectal surgery, managing benign and malignant diseases using open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques. Participate in surgical education, including bedside teaching, didactic instruction, and curriculum development for residents and fellows. Engage in clinical or translational research with opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration. Contribute to quality improvement and patient safety efforts within the division and across the health system. Participate in institutional and departmental service, including committee work and professional society involvement. Qualifications M.D. or equivalent medical degree. Completion of an ACGME-accredited general surgery residency and colorectal surgery fellowship. Board certified or eligible in General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery. Eligible for medical licensure in Maryland. Demonstrated commitment to academic surgery with scholarly activity, educational engagement, or quality improvement efforts. Strong interpersonal skills, collaborative mindset, and ability to thrive in a complex academic environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience in clinical research, surgical innovation, or health services improvement. Prior academic presentations or publications in colorectal surgery.
