Public Sector (City or County) experience
Construction Management/Resident Engineer experience
Project Management experience
An official City of West Sacramento application form must be filled out in its entirety. It is the applicant's responsibility to explain their qualifications fully and clearly. Applicants must submit a resume and complete the required supplemental questionnaire. Incomplete submissions may disqualify candidates. Applications will be reviewed and screened for qualifications. Depending on the number of qualified candidates, an oral panel interview may be held, with the date to be determined if conducted. The top candidates will be referred for further consideration.

Education and Experience Any combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge and skill. A typical pathway includes:
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
Experience:
Assistant Engineer: Approximately two (2) years of experience as a Junior Engineer.
Associate Engineer: At least four (4) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience. Public works/municipal engineering experience is highly desirable.
Senior Engineer: At least six (6) years of increasingly responsible professional civil engineering experience.
Licenses and Certificates
Assistant Engineer: Valid Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T.) certificate required.
Associate Engineer: Possession of a valid professional civil engineer registration. Registration as a civil engineer in California must be obtained within one year of appointment.
If duties require driving, a valid California driver’s license must be maintained.
