Assistant Director Of Marketing And Creative Services, Athletics
The Assistant Director Of Marketing And Creative Services At Furman University's Department Of Intercollegiate Athletics Plays A Vital Role In Promoting And Enhancing The Brand Image Of The University's Division-I Athletic Programs.
This position involves collaborating with various stakeholders to develop and implement strategic marketing plans and assist with creative content. The Assistant Director Of Marketing And Creative Services reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director For External Affairs And Contributes To The Overall Success Of The Department Through Effective Marketing Strategies.
This is an exempt, 12-month position.
Primary Duties And Responsibilities:
- Marketing Strategy: Create and execute innovative marketing and promotional campaigns to drive attendance and enhance the fan experience.
- Digital Marketing: Assist with developing and implementing digital marketing strategies, including content development and graphic design for social media, videoboard, email communication, website content management, and online advertising to reach target audiences and increase engagement.
- Sponsorship Activation: Collaborate with corporate sponsors to activate marketing agreements and ensure deliverables are met, including promotional events and in-game activations.
- Community And Campus Engagement: Assist with grass-roots marketing initiatives around Greenville and Furman's campus.
- Creative Content: Assist with graphic design production including website, gameday, and recruiting.
- Supervision & Leadership: Oversee and coordinate the student internship program, including recruiting, training, and programming.
- Student Organization Liaison: Work with student organizations, cheerleaders, dance team, mascot, emcee, band, and DJ to coordinate various theme games throughout the year to increase student attendance at sporting events.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the external team, athletic staff, coaches, and other departments to coordinate efforts, maximize resources, and ensure consistent messaging and branding.
Qualifications:
- Hours: Must be able to work 40-plus hours per week.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, sports management, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience in marketing, preferably in collegiate athletics or a related sports industry.
- Creative And Design Skills: Familiarity with graphic design software and experience in creating or overseeing the production of marketing collateral pieces. Specifically in Photoshop or other Adobe Creative Suite programs.
- Strong Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas and concepts in a clear and concise manner.
- Digital Marketing Experience: Knowledgeable in digital marketing strategies and tools, including social media platforms, content management systems, email marketing software, and web analytics.
- Project Management: Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strategic Thinking: Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop creative marketing solutions to achieve organizational goals.
- Team Player: Collaborative and team-oriented mindset, with the ability to work effectively with diverse group of stakeholders.
- Knowledge Of Athletics: Understanding of collegiate athletics and the sports industry, including fan engagement strategies, game day operations and NCAA rules and regulations.
