00833636 – Requisition # : 36715 Job Summary : The Office of Medical Education at the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CUSOM) is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Dean of Medical Education, Clinical Clerkships, within the Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) Office at the Anschutz Medical Campus (AMC). Reporting to the Associate Dean of Medical Education, the Assistant Dean of Medical Education – Clinical Clerkship oversees and coordinates all aspects of LIC operations, student support services, community engagement, and team support for the Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships (LICs) and Foothills Curriculum. This position provides strategic leadership and ensures the effective development, delivery, and continuous quality improvement of both clinical and classroom learning experiences. Key responsibilities include hiring and onboarding LIC Directors, specialty site liaisons, and the Foothills Curriculum Director; supervising grading processes; integrating curriculum components; and supporting students and faculty across clinical training sites. Additionally, the Assistant Dean supports faculty recruitment and development and ensures comparability and excellence across all LIC sites. The role also emphasizes cultivating strong relationships with key faculty and leadership, including the Associate and Assistant Deans across Medical Education and Student Life; the Director of Basecamps; the COMPASS Program Director; the Director of the Clinical Pillar; the Associate Dean of Assessment, Evaluation, and Outcomes (or relevant AEO leadership); and the Clinical Content Directors (CCDs). Supervision Received : Reports directly to the Associate Dean of Medical Education, Clerkship Curriculum Supervision Exercised : This position supervises the following faculty UME roles, LIC Directors AMC Integration Director GP Integration Director Key Responsibilities : Oversight of Longitudinal Integrated Clerkships (LICs) and Foothills Curriculum Manage hiring, onboarding, and support for LIC Directors, specialty site liaisons, and the Foothills Curriculum Director to ensure high-quality curriculum delivery and student success. Oversee the development, integration, and continuous quality improvement (CQI) of LIC and Foothills curriculum, ensuring alignment across sites, effective assessments, and support for struggling learners. Ensure comparability across LIC sites, support grading processes, conduct annual CQI reviews, and contribute to budget planning for the Foothills clinical curriculum. Committee Leadership and Governance Chair Clerkship Phase Curriculum Committee (CPCC) meetings, set agendas, document minutes, delegate tasks, and actively participate in Curriculum Steering Committee (CSC), Trek Progress Committee (TPC), Undergraduate Medical Education Leadership (UME), and Assessment, Evaluation and Outcomes (AEO) meetings. Refine clerkship phase outcomes, develop and maintain policies, and collaborate with AEO and the Assistant Dean of Clinical Assessment on assessment policies and processes. Faculty and Stakeholder Support Lead recruitment, retention, and training of clinical faculty and housestaff, ensuring effective education on curriculum and assessment. Strengthen relationships with department and health systems leadership to enhance the clinical learning environment and explore opportunities for LIC expansion, including philanthropic support. Student Support and Engagement Facilitate orientations to the clerkship phase within the Plains and Basecamp curriculum, ensuring student readiness and providing support through site visits, teaching, participation in capstone events, and the LIC ambassador program. Work Location : Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule as needed for teaching and in-person meetings. Work location will be in Aurora, Colorado
