Position Overview The Town of Barnstable is seeking an Assistant Town Attorney responsible for litigation, zoning, land use, and other regulatory matters. The role involves advising Town employees, boards, and committees on legal issues, representing the Town in legal and quasi-judicial proceedings before courts and agencies. Qualifications
Juris Doctor degree Admitted to practice in Massachusetts Admitted or eligible for federal court practice At least 7 years of litigation experience, including 5 years in municipal law or equivalent Preferred: Zoning, land use, real estate, affordable housing, trusts experience Skills and Requirements
Strong communication, judgment, research, and writing skills Ability to prioritize and multitask Remote work up to 4 days/week; may require attending night meetings About Barnstable Population 49,000, comprising seven villages with unique characters. Known as Cape Cod's hub, with major healthcare, retail, transportation, and ferry services. The town has a budget of over $200 million and a AAA bond rating.
