The Fredericksburg HCC (FxHCC), opening in March 2025, is seeking an Associate Chief Health Informatics Officer (ACHIO). Part of the Central Virginia VA Health Care System (CVHCS), FxHCC will expand services in a growing veteran region. Working with the Director of Clinical Services at FxHCC and the CVHCS CHIO in Richmond, the ACHIO will coordinate informatics efforts at FxHCC and oversee ambulatory care informatics initiatives for the CVHCS Health informatics service. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licenses may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who meet the initial appointment requirements are deemed to have met the basic requirements. Basic Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens are unavailable) Doctor of medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited school Current unrestricted medical license in the U.S. Residency training approved by VA in an accredited program leading to board eligibility Enrolled residents in ACGME/AOA programs eligible for appointment as PRPs Proficiency in spoken and written English Additional requirements include: MD or DO degree, master's in bioinformatics, Computer Science, Business, or Health Administration, or 3+ years leadership in clinical informatics; active board certification in clinical specialty and informatics; 5+ years clinical experience; active U.S. medical license; physical ability to pass a physical exam. Lead major clinical informatics initiatives, combining clinical, administrative, and technical knowledge. Assess information needs, evaluate clinical processes, develop and refine clinical decision support systems, and participate in procurement and management of clinical information systems. Demonstrate core informatics functions: application support, business architecture management, data management, content management, system optimization, change management, requirements management, and partnership management. Maintain mastery of medical knowledge, healthcare environment, information systems, process re-engineering, and organizational change leadership. Perform all other duties as assigned. Patient Care Responsibilities
Practice medicine part-time in clinical specialty at FxHCC (minimum 25% FTE). Support VA clinical information systems, ensuring quality data transfer and system operation to improve patient care and safety. Additional Benefits
