Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced IT Director, Data Management to lead the strategic development and oversight of data management initiatives, including policies, standards, and enterprise-wide master data solutions. This position plays a key role in transforming the organization's Master Data Management (MDM) ecosystem—spanning people, processes, and technology—while driving change management and advancing the overall master data journey. The IT Director will lead the selection and implementation of MDM solutions, streamline data ownership processes, and collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization to define and promote data governance frameworks and practices.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of 25+ professionals through 5–6 direct reports, including Managers and Supervisors, across functions such as Data Governance, Data Management, Data Conversion, and Data Stewardship.
- Oversee team hiring, training, and development; establish goals for the Data Management Organization and support the team’s growth in MDM best practices.
- Manage the department’s budget and ensure cost-effective operations.
- Drive the transformation of the organization’s master data processes, tools, and technologies, focusing on unification and standardization.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders through established forums such as the monthly Master Data Management Council and quarterly Executive MDM Steering Committee.
- Communicate business impacts of data quality issues to leadership and propose actionable solutions.
- Define, implement, and maintain data quality standards and monitoring processes.
- Guide IT, Business, and Engineering teams on data management best practices and the use of centralized data cataloging tools.
- Identify and execute opportunities to improve data quality across dimensions including accuracy, validity, reliability, timeliness, relevance, and completeness.
- Experience with Oracle ERP and Salesforce (SFDC) is essential.
- Ability to define and lead enterprise-wide MDM strategies across domains such as customers, suppliers, and products.
- Skilled in engaging business units to define master data attributes, ownership structures, and supporting technologies.
- Proven track record in master data transformation initiatives is highly desirable.
- Capable of defining data quality KPIs and supporting business teams in developing a Business Data Glossary.
- Solid understanding of core business processes such as customer onboarding, order processing, procurement, and item management.
- Familiarity with tools related to data lineage, business glossary, and bank information validation is a plus.
- Prior hands-on experience with MDM solution implementation (e.g., Oracle, Informatica) is advantageous.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience is required.
