Job Summary
The Associate Director, Residential Credit Asset Management, will support the Executive Director in managing a clients portfolio of borrowers, including major public home builders and land developers. This role will assist in monitoring business plan execution, preparing financial analysis and investor reporting, and providing insights on homebuilder, project, and sub-market performance. The Associate Director will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure best-in-class service delivery.
Responsibilities
Support the analysis of housing market fundamentals and individual project performance to assess key risks for a ~$1 billion USD portfolio of land bank and traditional acquisition & development credit exposure. Assist in re-underwriting portfolio collateral values, assessing development execution and remaining costs/capitalization, and supporting risk and valuation analysis for new deals. Contribute to the management of the credit risk rating system and maintain key borrower and third-party vendor relationships under the guidance of the Executive Director. Prepare and review market data, homebuilder performance reporting, and internal portfolio performance reports to identify and escalate potential issues related to collateral performance or credit risk. Analyze development budgets, site inspection reports, and loan commitments to flag potential cost overruns and support the negotiation of capitalization plans with borrowers and clients. Assist in communications and execution related to loan modifications, takedown schedules, and credit enhancements, in coordination with the Executive Director and legal counsel. Collaborate with the internal credit administration team to support development draws, lot takedowns, payments, operations, and portfolio reporting. Participate in project site inspections and meetings with clients and borrowers as needed. Contribute to departmental goals and support the professional development of team members as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in finance, real estate, or a related field. MBA preferred but not required. 3-5 years of relevant experience in home building, residential land acquisition and development, and/or residential real estate asset management. Experience in residential land development underwriting, acquisition, entitlement, development, or municipal bond financing processes. Strong analytical, underwriting, and financial analysis skills, including proficiency in Excel. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a client and customer service-oriented mindset.
