Senior Vice President, Software Engineering

A leading SaaS company that develops mission-critical enterprise software solutions across public sector, healthcare, education, and commercial markets is seeking a visionary and hands-on Senior Vice President of Software Engineering to drive innovation, scale engineering operations, and deliver high-impact software products.

This executive will lead a globally distributed engineering organization, setting and executing the technology strategy, driving product development, and ensuring operational excellence. This is a key leadership position reporting directly to the CTO, with a clear succession path to the CTO role within 2–3 years based on performance and organizational fit.

What You’ll Do

• Own and execute the engineering strategy aligned with business objectives.
• Lead cross-functional teams in building secure, scalable, high-performing enterprise-grade solutions.
• Oversee software engineering, product architecture, and DevOps functions across US and international teams (Fort Wayne, Lithuania).
• Champion agile methodologies, CI/CD, test automation, and cloud-native design.
• Drive the transformation of legacy transactional systems into AI-driven platforms with embedded decision support, automation, and optimization features.
• Collaborate with Product and Executive teams to align technical priorities with customer needs, including federal agencies like FEMA, TSA, and CBP.
• Partner with Professional Services to improve technical enablement and integration within client delivery.
• Foster a culture of accountability, acceleration, and innovation, building on recent improvements in engineering velocity and product release cycles.
• Present technical strategies and updates to the board and key stakeholders.
• Support M&A technology integration and global team expansion.
• Guide long-term architectural modernization while honoring the needs of legacy system clients.

What We’re Looking For

• 15+ years of software engineering leadership, including scaling platforms and teams.
• Deep understanding of modern software architectures and development methodologies (cloud-native, service-based, containerized, etc.).
• Practical experience with AI/ML/GenAI, particularly in building decision automation, recommendation engines, or optimization systems (experience in supply chain, emergency response, or logistics is a plus).
• Proven ability to lead global R&D organizations of 100+, and experience establishing offshore engineering centers.
• History of transforming legacy platforms and instilling scalable processes.
• Strong experience managing technology budgets and complex project delivery.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including board and C-level engagement.
• Experience integrating acquired technologies and organizations is a plus.

Requirements

• Must be based in or willing to relocate (at own expense) to the Atlanta metro area.
• U.S. Person status or eligibility for EAR compliance.
• Willingness to work on-site at least 3 days per week.
