Job Skills / Requirements
The Program Director of Community Support Services will provide overall management, strategic planning, and coordination of services within this department. Duties include supervising staff (including volunteers, practicum students and interns), engaging with community partners, outreach efforts to targeted client populations, exploring funding opportunities, assisting in writing/developing grant applications, submitting reports, and presenting information about the department to the community and other interested stakeholders.
Currently, Community Support Services includes financial support for expecting and new parents (Lifeline Fund); the Indigent Burial program; and the Father Jack Jones Food Pantry. Services may shift as the community needs demands. This position may provide position backup and direct client services as staffing needs require.

Essential Duties And Tasks
Developing, modifying, and coordinating department programming and services in response to community need, including developing and conducting program evaluation. Supervising, developing, and supporting staff and student interns in providing Community Support Services: Indigent Burial Program Coordinator (in partnership with Louisville Metro). Father Jack Jones Food Pantry Manager. Social work practicum students and other interns. Overseeing accurate recording of client information in database. Overseeing accurate reporting for all program activities Convening and coordinating Lifeline fund and supporting parish “Walking with Moms in Need” groups. Facilitate opportunities with community organizations and other service providers to meet the needs of those we serve. Engaging in community work groups to ensure a wider community is aware of assistance available through CCL. Coordinate referrals and ensure CCL clients are able to access other community resources. Coordinate and cooperate with the Advancement Team to explore funding opportunities, assist in writing/developing grant applications, and identify and manage donations for client needs and program incentives. With assistance from the Finance Department, developing and monitoring the program budget and spending. All other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in social work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field is required. Master’s is strongly preferred. At least 5 years of social services experience or internship is required; experience working with people in crisis situations is preferred. At least 2 years of experience in supervising others is required. Reasonable accommodation may be provided for those who are able to perform the essential duties of the job.
Specialized Skills And Knowledge
Must support and be able to articulate Catholic Social Teaching related to life issues. Must have good documentation skills and be able to communicate well verbally and in writing with clients, colleagues, parishes, and other community personnel. Must have knowledge of community resources and counseling/social work practices with high-risk populations. Must demonstrate and model respect for all clients, have flexibility, maintain confidentiality, exercise good judgment, be non-judgmental, have open personal qualities with a clear set of boundaries. Must be able to drive personal vehicle to various locations within the service area and have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record, Must be able to work in a variety of settings with culturally diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate. Must work well with limited supervision and be able to solve problems independently. Public speaking experience preferred. Must have interviewing skills and experience along with clinical, diagnostic, and assessment skills and experience. Must be able to manage competing demands and use time effectively. Must be proficient in PC skills including Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel plus Outlook and databases. Must demonstrate self-confidence, initiative, flexibility, and a high degree of professionalism - representing Catholic Charities in a positive manner in dress and presentation when meeting the public and demonstrate good networking skills.
