ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
55% of job: Health Risk Mitigation & Monitoring
Develop, implement, and manage industrial hygiene programs to identify and control workplace hazards. Conduct or manage the monitoring of silica, Naturally Occurring Asbestos (NOA) and other workplace substances to ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, company, and other regulatory or guidance organization standards. Oversee hearing conservation programs, including audiometric testing and noise exposure assessments. Manage medical monitoring programs, ensuring proper tracking and compliance for at-risk associates. Implement and maintain the Hazard Communication (HazCom) program, including chemical inventory, SDS management, and training. 25% of job: Manage Product Liability and Mineralogy Program
Maintain and implement various components of the Mineralogy program. Lead the identification and implementation of continuous improvement opportunities. Investigate compliance failures and accountability with the program. 10% of job: Program Management & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of industrial hygiene assessments, medical monitoring results, and regulatory compliance activities. Prepare reports and recommendations for leadership regarding trends, risks, and continuous improvement opportunities. Lead or support cross-functional projects related to industrial hygiene, risk management, and workplace safety improvements. 10% of job: Training & Compliance Develop and deliver training and presentations on industrial hygiene topics such as respiratory protection, hearing conservation, and chemical safety. Partner with Safety Coordinators and Environmental Coordinators to integrate industrial hygiene best practices into company-wide safety initiatives. Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations through audits, assessments, and proactive engagement with site teams. Serve as the subject matter expert on industrial hygiene-related regulatory changes, advising leadership on necessary adjustments to policies and procedures. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
Required Certifications: Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or ability to obtain certification required
Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years of industrial hygiene or occupational health experience in mining, construction, or a heavy industrial environment
Technical Competencies:
Strong knowledge of MSHA, OSHA, and EPA regulations related to industrial hygiene Experience conducting health risk assessments, exposure monitoring, and hazard evaluations Proven ability to develop and deliver effective training programs for diverse audiences Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills ENVIRONMENT OR PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
Ability to work under conditions of: frequent exposure to dusty conditions and the full range of weather conditions
