Saint Joseph's University Department of Biology has an ongoing need for highly qualified adjunct faculty to staff a variety of courses each semester. Professionals with experience and a passion for teaching at the undergraduate level will be given preference. Part-time adjunct faculty may instruct one or two courses each semester on an "as needed" basis. Courses available for adjunct staffing are offered during the day and also in the evening. Courses available for adjunct staffing may include: Non-Major Courses: Bio 160: Heredity and Evolution
an introductory course in DNA, genetics and evolutionary principles. Bio 161: The Human Organism - an elementary course in basic principles of human anatomy, physiology, and genetics. Bio 165: Exploring the Living World
a lecture/laboratory course covering the nature of science, cell biology and heredity, biodiversity, ecology, and human evolution and physiology Bio 260-261/BIO 175-185: Anatomy and Physiology for Nursing and Allied Health I and II both lecture and laboratory sections Bio 270 and 185: Clinical Microbiology for Nursing and Allied Health, both lecture and laboratory sections Major Courses: BIO 101L, 102L, 201L: Laboratory sections for introductory core courses in Cell Biology, Genetics, and Organismic Biology Nutrition: Lecture only Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Develop and deliver instructional materials such as lectures, lab activities, and assessments Hold regular office hours to support students Create, administer, and grade assignments, quizzes, lab reports, and exams Maintain accurate records of student progress in the course Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Biology or a closely related field required (Ph.D. preferred) Prior teaching experience at the college level strongly preferred Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to effectively explain complex concepts to students Strong organizational and classroom management skills Required Documents: Cover Letter/Letter of Interest Resume/Curriculum Vitae List of References Saint Joseph's University is a private, Catholic, Jesuit institution and we expect members of our community to be knowledgeable about
