Local candidates strongly preferred. Candidate must come to Richmond, VA to pick up laptop. Initial contract through June 30, 2026, with possible extension of 6-12+ months. During the 3-month probationary period: Onsite in Richmond 3-4 days/week. Post-probation: Mostly remote; onsite 1 week/quarter (Town Halls) and as needed. Responsibilities:
Develop overall solution and application architectures and systems integration plans. Lead design, documentation, and estimation efforts for enterprise applications. Define requirements for data, workflows, system inputs/outputs, and integration. Collaborate with IT staff to translate business needs into technical solutions. Produce artifacts such as technical estimates, system designs, sequence diagrams, data models. Ensure consistency and integration with existing application systems and COTS solutions. Assess feasibility and compatibility with hardware and software systems. Work closely with business units and enterprise architects to align with business strategies. Support enterprise KPIs through roadmaps and strategic planning. Design and implement enterprise security and technology patterns. Provide architectural guidance for new and legacy systems. Qualifications:
Strong experience with SAFe architecture and Agile/Scrum teams. Expertise in enterprise and solution-level architectural design. Background in integrating cross-functional applications. Experience with business process modeling and requirements analysis. Solid understanding of relational database design and management. Exposure to project management and lifecycle methodologies. Knowledge of software quality assurance best practices. Familiarity with XML constructs, SOAP, REST APIs. Strong end-user and business requirements understanding. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Required Skills & Experience:
8+ years of experience in enterprise-level application design and integration. 8+ years of experience in Azure, including cloud-native and hybrid architecture. 5+ years of experience with Docker and Azure services such as: Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) Azure Functions Azure Container Service Azure App Services Azure API Management 2+ years of experience working with Azure Data Factory and Azure Data Lake. 8+ years of experience in SaaS architecture. 8+ years of experience with integration architecture in Agile/Scrum environments. 8+ years of experience engaging with architecture in Agile methodologies (SAFe and Scrum). 2+ years of experience with Microsoft Power Platform: Power Apps Power Automate Dataverse Dynamics 365 2+ years of experience with Esri ArcGIS (Nice to have).
