We are seeking a Multi-Domain Integration & Command and Control (C2) Architect to help NATO shape how space capabilities interface with the full spectrum of Allied operations and plans.
Role Overview: As a Multi-Domain Integration & C2 Architect, you will drive the cross-cutting integration of space capabilities into NATO’s operational planning architecture. Your work will support the design of scalable planning frameworks, C2 structures, and doctrine updates that embed space resilience and responsiveness into NATO’s Deterrence and Defence of the Euro-Atlantic Area (DDA) plans and exercise cycles. This position requires an in-depth understanding of NATO's operational planning processes (OPP), joint C2 systems, and how space-based capabilities enable effects across all domains.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead development of
cross-domain integration frameworks
and
C2 architectures
for space-based contributions to NATO missions Contribute to NATO planning documents such as CONOPS, OPDs, and annex templates for space integration Collaborate with SHAPE, ACT, and domain leads to ensure synchronized planning across air, land, maritime, cyber, and space Support delivery of key SOW items including the
DDA Integration Recommendation Paper ,
Requirements Document , and
Integration Framework Develop planning checklists, vignettes, and use cases to illustrate how space effects are delivered in complex operational environments Assist in designing tabletop exercises and simulations that test cross-domain interactions and space-enabling dependencies Contribute to the doctrinal adaptation of NATO C2 processes to accommodate emerging commercial and national space capabilities Required Qualifications:
Active U.S. Secret clearance Citizenship of a NATO member nation Minimum 8 years’ experience in joint/combined operational planning, C2 systems, or multi-domain operations Deep familiarity with NATO planning processes (OPP, DDA, CRP, NDPP) and document structures Proven ability to align space and cyber capabilities with operational and strategic-level command plans Strong organizational and documentation skills with experience preparing NATO-level briefings and planning materials Preferred Qualifications:
Experience supporting NATO ACT, SHAPE, or Allied joint planning groups Background in designing C2 systems or planning architecture for large-scale joint exercises or wargames Familiarity with NATO CIS and interoperability standards Technical understanding of how space-based ISR, PNT, or SATCOM integrate into operational planning Graduate degree in defense planning, operations research, systems engineering, or a related field Why Join Ironclad?
