3 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Natera is currently seeking an Associate Director of Bioinformatics to join our Bioinformatics Research Team focused on Cancer Early Detection. Natera’s mission is to change the management of disease worldwide by using information gained from a simple blood draw to detect disease early and proactively inform treatment. The individual will lead a team of Bioinformatics Scientists and will be responsible for the planning and execution of research projects related to cancer detection. The ideal candidate should be an experienced hands-on team leader and have a strong background in algorithm development, biomedical data processing and analysis, and statistics. Responsibilities include envisioning, planning, and executing research strategies in collaboration with other cross-functional stakeholders; building a team of Bioinformatics Scientists and supporting their professional growth; fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific excellence; working closely with molecular biologists and clinical scientists to solve challenging problems; contributing to experimental design and ensuring data integrity and quality control; communicating findings clearly across all levels and functions of the company and acting as a subject matter expert; presenting results at conferences and publishing in top-tier journals. Qualifications include a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field; minimum of 8 years of working experience in bioinformatics and extensive managerial and cross-functional experience; track-record of leading and developing state-of-the-art and impactful bioinformatics methods; experience in Python; experience using Linux command-line tools and writing shell scripts; deep understanding of sequencing data and large-scale datasets; ability to visualize findings and summarize results in oral and written form for both technical and non-technical audiences; high scientific rigor and eagerness to teach and learn about new computational methods and biology.
