HVAC Field Control Technician Edgewater area, MD Salary $55,000-75,000 ( Depending on experience ) Responsibilities:
- Responsible for primarily being in the field, installing and retrofitting BAS Systems and Wiring
- Wiring, programming, and commissioning Building Automation Systems (BAS) for HVAC and other mechanical systems in commercial buildings
- Install BAS hardware, including controllers, sensors, actuators, and other system components
- Perform electrical wiring and terminations for control panels, field devices, and network communications in accordance with local codes and standards.
- Configure and program BAS controllers to meet project specifications and operational requirements.
- Assist in setting up network connections and system integrations with third-party devices.
- Conduct system checks to ensure proper functionality of installed controls.
- Calibrate sensors and verify performance to meet design and customer expectations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve system issues during the commissioning phase.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other technicians to ensure successful project execution.
- Maintain accurate records of installation, programming, and commissioning activities.
- Provide documentation for as-built drawings and system changes.
- Communicate with customers to ensure satisfaction with installation and system functionality.
- Provide training to customers on system operation and troubleshooting as needed.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in BAS, controls, or related field.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and BAS control diagrams.
- Familiarity with control systems from leading BAS manufacturers (e.g., Honeywell, Trane, Johnson Controls, etc.).
- Knowledge of low-voltage wiring, networking, and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, etc.).
- Proficient in using tools for wiring, testing, and diagnostics.
- Ability to troubleshoot control system hardware and software issues.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or associate degree in a related field preferred.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., NICET, BAS manufacturer certifications) are a plus.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to job sites.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work at heights, and navigate construction sites safely.
