Job Purpose:
The Activity Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students and staff on activity-related trips-including athletic events and field trips-following designated routes and schedules. This position ensures the safety and well-being of all passengers while operating the vehicle in compliance with district policies and state regulations. Activity trips may require afternoon, evening, and occasional weekend hours.
Reports to:
Director of Transportation
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely transport students and staff on school-sponsored activity trips such as athletic events and field trips.
- Maintain student discipline and ensure order on the bus in accordance with district policies.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections to ensure safety and operability.
- Report mechanical issues or needed repairs promptly to the Transportation Department.
- Refuel and service the bus as needed, including checking oil, tires, and battery.
- Conduct required safety drills and complete any associated documentation.
- Serve as a substitute driver on home-to-school routes as needed, adhering to designated pick-up and drop-off schedules.
- Keep the interior and exterior of the bus clean and well-maintained.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED
- Candidates must have or be able to obtain a CDL Class B license with passenger and school bus endorsement. Dalton Public Schools will provide training
