in the following areas: Bus Driver Custodian
Employment cannot be finalized until the applicant has completed requirements for a complete background check and fingerprinting as required by Maine State Statute. Please see the information below to complete the process with the Maine Department of Education.
Who Must be Fingerprinted?
Anyone who works for a school district that is over 18 years old
Anyone who is contracted through a school district
What do I need to be Fingerprinted?
Step 1: Create a MEIS account.
Go to https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert/fingerprinting for instructions on how to create a MEIS account
Step 2: Register at https://me.ibtfingerprint.com/ to make your fingerprints appointment. ($55 fee) Step 3: Submit a new application for CHRC. ($15 fee)
How often do I need to be Fingerprinted?
Every 5 years, unless you have been continuously employed for the last 5 years by a Maine school district. **Coaches and Substitute Teachers must be fingerprinted every 5 years, regardless of continuous employment.
What is the status of my Fingerprints?
Go to https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert/status. You will need to provide your last name and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
