Job Summary: For Caterpillar, digital means using technology to extract data from our machines and engines and transform it into valuable recommendations and insights to help customers make better, more informed decisions and help Caterpillar make robust products with the lowest total ownership cost. Our products generate and process large amounts of data from sensors, on-board ECMs, and control algorithms in real-time creating real-world machine usage information to provide condition monitoring and fleet management services. The Enterprise Connectivity team of Cat Digital is hiring a Manager; Digital NPI which has enterprise accountability for full/mix fleet product line strategy definition, implementation, quality, telecom, and cost/budget management. As a Manager; Digital NPI you will provide leadership and accountability for the delivery of end to end solution(s). This will include collaboration with internal development partners such as Cat Technology, global purchasing, legal, M&B, GCI, CISD, CD&T, MTES, E&T Digital and Aftermarket teams including dealers/customers. What You Will Do: The incumbent will lead full/mix fleet NPI for customer and dealer-facing Telematics solutions (Cellular, Sat, Wi-Fi, BT, UWB, etc.), managing product requirements and a multi-generational product plan. Responsibilities include generating functional requirements from customer (VOC), dealer(VOD), business (VOB), and regulatory (VOR) input, and aligning them with market and industry trends. The role also ensures consistency between marketing, system, and hardware requirement documents, working closely with enterprise technical leaders. As a Manager; Digital NPI, you will help define functional requirements for full/mix fleet and collaboration with potential suppliers for different products to be integrated into Helios. Your role includes gathering customer connectivity and feature requests, refining them, guiding these through development, and ensuring timely delivery. You will work closely with Cat Digital teams on enterprise architecture, implementing new technologies, and evaluating emerging digital solutions. Responsibilities include: Facilitating the development and support of full/mix fleet telematics products through collaboration with development partners including VisionLink product team, Cat Technology, CD&T, and purchasing. Ensuring the NPI program meets all goal requirements for product function, reliability, program cost, budget, and customer satisfaction Communicate the status of program/project to stakeholders and customers in clear, concise, and compelling manner. Accountable for the definition and management of functional requirements. This will require interfacing with internal customers including customers, dealers, aftermarket and Cat Technology. Developing and tracking annual budgets and program life-time forecasts related to product development and programs. Providing leadership and direction to multi-function teams to develop program level development strategy and oversee all functions involved in the NPI product development process. Executing the NPI Process; prioritize critical customer and business requirements; guide concept selection and the development of product requirements and technical specifications. Leading the evaluation and deployment of new digital technologies and solutions to add or enhance existing digital technical capabilities. Overseeing and ensuring the timely delivery of features through collaboration with development partners in both Cat Technology and Cat Digital. This entails shepherding features through architectural assessment, engineering forecasting, release commitment, validation and delivery. Problem Management: Knowledge of the processes involved in problem control, error control and the production of management information or computer hardware; ability to identify the root cause of problems in a timely and accurate manner and bring them to a successful resolution. Considerations for Top Candidates: Bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Materials Science or related field preferred Experience and history of progressive product and project leadership responsibility Knowledge and experience with connectivity/telematics product line, on-board software, Gateway, Platform and familiarity with User Interface like VL, DSP, Foresight, PCC, etc. Knowledge and awareness of IoT Standards, regulations, and regional requirements Familiarity and experience in wireless technology i.e., cellular, Satellite, Wi-Fi/B.T., Positioning, etc. Must have ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in the work group, as well as employees in other business units, customers, and suppliers. Successful execution of multiple NPI programs Requirements gathering and documentation experience with customers Electronic component, information systems, and machine systems development experience and knowledge Commercial, business, engineering and manufacturing skills along with an understanding of product test & development, materials, accounting and pricing functions. Summary Pay Range: $144,960.00 - $217,320.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience.
