Medical Lab Scientist (MLS/CLS/MT/MLT) Needed in Fort Wayne, IN Our client, a major hospital organization in Northern Indiana, has a need for a Medical Lab Scientist (MLS/CLS/MT/MLT) in the Fort Wayne area. Certified Lab Scientists are eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus and relocation may be available. Position Summary The Medical Lab Scientist is responsible for accurately performing medical laboratory tests following established laboratory policies and procedures; adhering to performance and quality standards. The Lab Scientist is responsible for clinical instrument maintenance, test and instrumentation development, and training of other laboratory staff. The LS actively participates in the overall functioning of the clinical laboratory, assuming leadership or team roles on committees and projects. The LS ensures the laboratory remains inspection-ready. The LS possesses extensive knowledge of techniques, instruments, and basic medical sciences. The LS is responsible for the consequences of their decisions and provides guidance to other lab staff. Education & Licensure/Certifications Required: Bachelor of Science degree required. Completion of an NAACLS-accredited Clinical Laboratory Science program required. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist (by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathology, the Credentialing Agency, the American Medical Technologists, or the American Association of Bioanalysts) required. OR At least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience performing non-waived patient testing, with a requirement to pass a nationally recognized certification exam (AMT or ASCP) within 5 years and 6 months from hire date. Must have visual acuity and discrimination ability. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
