The Safety Manager is accountable for overseeing the management and coordination of safety practices and procedures on large commercial construction projects. This individual will work hand in hand daily with Project Superintendents, promoting a culture of safety and addressing site-specific safety concerns.
At PENTA, a Safety Manager is responsible for: Establishing a company-wide culture of health and safety. Attending pre-construction, pre-installation, pre-mobilization, and monthly Safety Manager meetings. Preparation of a comprehensive Job-Site Specific Safety Plan for each assigned project. Conducting the initial safety orientation training for all new field employees and subcontractors. Maintaining and collecting the project team's documentation of safety violations, near-miss and incident reports, accidents and injury reports, safety meetings, daily huddles, audits, fire extinguishers, and first aid checklists. Conducting field inspections and accident investigations. Reviewing and inspecting all HAZCOM/SDS. Reviewing environmental issues such as SWPPP, Dust Control, BMP's, toilet facilities, etc. Reviewing and monitoring back-to-work policies and procedures for injured employees with supervision following proper protocol. Attending a variety of safety training classes for the betterment of self, others, and the company. May perform other duties not listed here as assigned and noted in our Corporate Safety Handbook.
We trust that you have: 5-7 years of Safety Manager experience on commercial construction projects. Minimum 3 years of experience managing and/or participating in OCIP/CCIPs. OSHA 30 certification. Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or in Occupational Safety and Health is preferred. Knowledge and familiarity with Construction processes, practices, and procedures. Proven ability to adapt behavior or work methods in response to new information or conditions. Experience with follow-up and monitoring of work to ensure quality standards and attention to detail. A positive attitude and team player mindset.
