What You’ll Be Doing…
As a Distinguished Engineer in Software Development, you will play a major role in the discovery, detailed design, systems architecture, and leading all the aspects of application development for the VBG Assisted Sales and Ordering portfolios.
Furthermore, you will hold responsibility for all technological and architectural aspects of the assisted systems utilized by our VBG sales and support teams.
A key aspect of your role will involve leading the migration of our current ordering systems from the legacy platform to the north star architecture, ensuring alignment with VGS system modernization efforts.
You will also define and govern the NSA architecture for VBG assisted sales, guaranteeing its alignment with the organization's strategic goals.
Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To
- Working closely with product management and business stakeholders to identify key customer needs and translate them into software features that deliver significant value.
- Providing expert guidance and mentorship to architects, with a strong focus on engineering business processes to significantly improve both customer and user journeys.
- Actively facilitating coordination and alignment between business owners, project management, and the development teams from various GTS teams to establish clear technical strategies and provide a detailed architecture, ensuring seamless end-to-end implementation.
- Defining and driving architecture, modernization and consolidation of legacy ordering systems.
- Leading key Wireless Modules such as B360 Quote & Ordering across various channels including Telesales, Retail, Indirect and B2B Market.
- Driving strategic oversight, cross functional team collaboration, vendor governance for Quote, Ordering & Product Enablement Organization.
- Driving enhancements and tools to improve Sales & Ordering experience in close collaboration with Sales Leadership, Solution Architects, Sales Support, Channel leaders and Retail /Telesales.
- Championing continuous innovation and driving the adoption and scalability of the NSA platform.
- Taking end-to-end ownership of the platform from discovery through design and development, managing user expectations, prioritizing tasks, and ensuring timely delivery within an agile framework.
- Creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation for processes and procedures.
- Playing a key role in implementing AI technologies, including Adaptive AI and Generative AI, to enhance customer and user experience.
- Leveraging analytical skills to analyze processes and recommend improvements.
- Applying design principles of Decision strategies, Next-Best-Action/Offers (NBX), and Predictive Analytics.
- Documenting business rules & design, configuring rules & flows.
- Building resilient, scalable architecture, driving innovation, cost efficiency, and quality.
- Partnering with cross-channel teams to lead system initiatives and provide strategic direction.
- Creating system design documentation, procedures, and presentations; translating business strategies into plans.
- Serving as Senior Solutions Architect/Technical Leader, focusing on CX excellence and robust solutions.
- Fostering an engineering culture with high standards for quality, ownership, and action bias, guiding developers within Agile practices.
- Partnering with senior management for solution decisions, alignment, and implementation.
- Preparing and delivering presentations to executive stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For...
You'll need to have:
- Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
- Eight or more years of relevant experience, demonstrated through work, military, or training.
- Experience with Java, J2EE, React, Spring Boot.
- Experience with Large Scale Distributed Systems development.
- Experience with offshore development teams.
- Experience with client stakeholder engagement and reporting to senior leadership.
Even better if you have one or more of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science / Information Systems, Business Administration or related field.
- Experience with Netflix-Zuul, Redis, Rabbit-MQ, Spring Cloud.
- Knowledge of networking, applications, infrastructure, or database architectures.
- Knowledge of Verizon Business products including Wireless.
- Experience with data- and metric-driven performance management.
- Experience with Cloud and Container platforms, design, architecture, and migration.
- Experience developing APIs for large-scale efficiencies.
- Leadership in complex projects, problem-solving, and feedback integration.
- Analytics experience for incident prediction and proactive actions.
- Experience in self-healing and resiliency patterns.
- Performance testing expertise.
- Knowledge of IT strategic planning and B2B technological trends.
