About the Role
The Company is seeking a Board Vice Chair to join its dedicated team. The successful candidate will assist the Chair in their duties, fill in during board and executive committee meetings as needed, and may take on additional roles such as chairing ad hoc committees. This position is a key partnership with the Executive Director, providing leadership to the Board of Directors, and supporting the organization's financial mission. The Vice Chair will also be involved in board management, including presenting reports, encouraging fiscal responsibility, and playing a leading role in fundraising and programmatic support.
Applicants for the Board Vice Chair role at the company should be prepared to take on a range of responsibilities, including formal and informal evaluations of the Executive Director and Board members, and leading the annual Board Assessment. The role requires a commitment to the organization's mission of fostering an inclusive, liberatory writing culture and may involve both virtual and in-person meetings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in leadership, be a strategic thinker, and have experience in areas such as fundraising, partnership planning, and community engagement. The company values diversity and is particularly interested in candidates who can bring a unique perspective to the Board.
