CVOR Surgical Technologist support patient care in the perioperative setting by assisting surgeons and nursing staff before, during, and after surgical procedures. What you will do in this role: The CVOR Surgical Technologist Surgery provides care for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. The surgical technologist in the first scrub role handles the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure. The CVOR Surgical Technician understands the procedure being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. The CVOR Surgical Technician has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. When the CVOR Surgical Technician is in the second scrub role they assist the surgeon and/or surgical assistant during the operative procedure by carrying out tasks including sponging, suctioning, cutting suture, holding retractors, and manipulating the endoscopic camera. What qualifications you will need: Associates Degree or Vocational School Graduate or equivalent relevant work experience in lieu of degree. Certified Surgical Technician (CST) required; Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification required; Technician in Surgery (NCCT) preferred; Certified Operating Room Technician preferred. Two years' general OR experience required; CVOR experience preferred. 2 plus years' experience doing heart procedures required. This is a 6:45am to 3:15pm or 5:15pm shift with call.
