Job Summary
:
The SNS Assistant Manager - Elementary is responsible for the management and coordination of elementary school meal programs, coaching and supporting Elementary Supervisors, SNS warehouse and elementary staff, ensuring high standards of food quality, nutrition, and safety. This role provides implementation, training, and oversight in key operational areas such as staff performance, production, inventory, ordering, food safety, and point-of-sale systems.
Essential Functions: Ensure alignment with and consistent interpretation of local, state and federal meal program guidelines Communicate changes associated with menu, staffing and program regulations Troubleshoot equipment and recommend replacement Ensure accuracy of the point of sale system, correct deficiencies and act as a technical resource Assist with meal program accommodations Analyze kitchen layout and make recommendations Ensure kitchen and staff comply with health and safety regulations including HACCP Develop and execute standard operating procedures Calculate, enter and submit orders through multiple ordering platforms Evaluate and determine yield for approved substitute products Receive and process internal orders and vendor invoices Conduct monthly physical inventory Deliver food and supply items as requested Assist with student taste testings and special events Evaluate menus and make recommendations based on logistical needs or staff feedback Analyze and forecast meal participation and adjust as needed Promote the meal program Promote cross training for staff in all areas of the operation Conduct site staff meetings as needed Provide comprehensive needs based training Participate in the interview and selection process Conduct probationary reviews for staff to provide constructive feedback Determine staffing needs in the event of staff absences Communicate performance difficulties and concerns regarding personnel issues Make recommendations regarding staff performance / discipline Attend continuing education training sessions and district department meetings Act as a resource for handling comments and concerns regarding the meal program from internal and external parties Other duties as assigned License Requirement :
High School Diploma or GED Required:
Minnesota Certified Food Protection Manager
or obtain within 6 months of hire date Preferred but not required:
Bachelor's degree with an academic major in food service management, dietetics, nutrition, culinary arts, business, or a related field. Member of MSNA/SNA encouraged
Qualifications:
Minimum requirement: 3+ years of experience working for a school nutrition program or 2+ years supervisory experience in a USDA school nutrition program.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to work on your feet for extended periods and move throughout the kitchen/warehouse areas as needed. Ability to lift 30 pounds regularly
