We are on the lookout for individuals with outstanding customer service and patient interaction skills to enhance our primary care environment. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role by performing both clinical and administrative tasks in an ambulatory care setting, under the supervision of a physician/provider and/or registered nurse. Your responsibilities will include venipuncture, medication and vaccine administration, vital signs measurement, and supporting providers during patient exams, alongside essential telephone and clerical support. This position may require you to float to various sites/locations within our health system. Apply today and discover how MedStar Health can be your next great career move! Primary Duties: Assist providers in preparing patients and conducting office procedures, exams, and education. Support the clinical care team to ensure optimal patient flow and manage patient volume effectively. Prepare for scheduled patient visits and screen patients for preventative care needs, safety concerns, and possible barriers to care. Conduct motivational interviews focusing on patient disease management and community outreach needs. Report any potential problems concerning patients, families, and team members. Engage in performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing care quality and safety. Attend training on safety, infection control, and maintain compliance through auditing and monitoring. Perform selected patient/laboratory testing, including proper documentation in the patient's electronic medical record (EMR). Assist with patient discharge and provide chaperoning as required. Manage drug and medical supply inventories, ensuring appropriate maintenance of equipment. Participate in telephone screening services, gathering information and determining patient needs. May perform procedures such as inserting intravenous catheters, monitoring urinary catheters, and administering injections as delegated by the provider. Utilize the EMR system for patient medication refills and requisition tests. Contact insurance companies for pre-authorizations. Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists within one year. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Experience in an ambulatory care medical office or equivalent is preferred. Completion of an externship in a medical or ambulatory health setting is strongly preferred. Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program is preferred. Completed externship program at MedStar Health may substitute for ambulatory care experience. This position has a hiring range of $19.17 - $33.08.
