Overview
We are seeking an experienced Field Superintendent to oversee sitework and civil construction operations across multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards. The Field Superintendent will serve as the primary on-site leader for construction projects, coordinating with subcontractors, managing multiple crews, and maintaining project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Coordination
Supervise daily construction activities across multiple concurrent projects
Coordinate work among multiple trades, subcontractors, and crews on various job sites
Review project plans, specifications, and schedules to ensure compliance and timely completion
Conduct regular progress meetings with project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders
Monitor project milestones across all active projects and communicate status updates to project management team
Coordinate material deliveries and equipment scheduling to maintain workflow efficiency across multiple sites
Prioritize resources and crews based on project urgency and scheduling requirements
Safety & Compliance
Enforce all safety protocols and OSHA regulations on job sites
Conduct daily safety meetings and toolbox talks with crews
Perform regular safety inspections and address hazards immediately
Ensure all workers have proper safety equipment and training
Maintain accurate safety documentation and incident reports
Quality Control & Assurance
Inspect work progress to ensure adherence to project specifications and quality standards
Identify and resolve construction issues before they impact schedule or budget
Coordinate with quality control inspectors and ensure all work meets code requirements
Document progress through photos, reports, and quality checklists
Manage punch list items and ensure completion before project closeout
Team Leadership & Communication
Lead and motivate multiple field crews across various project sites to maintain high productivity and morale
Resolve conflicts and coordinate between different trades and subcontractors on multiple projects
Communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients across all active projects
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior field staff and crew leaders
Maintain positive relationships with all project stakeholders while managing multiple project demands
Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; construction management or related degree preferred
Minimum 5-7 years of sitework/civil construction experience with at least 3 years in supervisory role
Experience with earthwork, grading, utilities, paving, and site development projects
Demonstrated track record of successful horizontal construction project completion
Technical Skills
Proficient in reading and interpreting civil engineering drawings, grading plans, and utility layouts
Knowledge of sitework methods, materials, and civil construction practices
Familiarity with construction management software and project scheduling tools
Strong understanding of surveying principles, GPS/laser systems, and site layout procedures
Knowledge of soil conditions, compaction requirements, and earthwork operations
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite
Certifications & Licenses
OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification required
Valid driver's license with clean driving record
First Aid/CPR certification preferred
Additional trade-specific certifications a plus
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual capabilities (English/Spanish)
Experience with sitework and civil construction projects including earthwork, utilities, and paving
Knowledge of heavy equipment operations and capabilities
Experience with stormwater management and erosion control practices
