Job Description

Position Summary :

SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is currently seeking a highly skilled Cloud Architect/Engineer preferably with extensive experience in Amazon Web Services (AWS). In this role, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing our cloud infrastructure to support our organization's digital transformation and scalability goals.

Design, deploy, and maintain AWS-based cloud solutions that are secure, scalable, and cost-effective. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess business requirements and develop cloud architecture strategies. Implement and manage cloud services, including virtual machines, databases, storage, and networking resources. Ensure compliance with security best practices and industry standards. Optimize and monitor cloud resources to minimize costs while maintaining performance. Troubleshoot and resolve cloud-related issues and incidents. Experience in creating AWS solution offerings roadmap for the organization. Stay updated on AWS services and technologies, recommending and implementing new solutions as appropriate. Mentor and provide guidance to junior team members on cloud architecture and best practices. Ensures product roadmap aligns with the company's platforms, both on-premise and cloud.

Requirements

Qualifications:

Proven experience as a Cloud Architect/Engineer with a focus on AWS.AWS certifications, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, are highly desirable. Strong knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, and VPC. Experience with infrastructure as code (IAC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation. Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash). Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field or or equivalent work experience.
