Law Enforcement Records Supervisor
Yellowstone County is seeking a Law Enforcement Records Supervisor to manage the records activities and operations in the Yellowstone County Sheriff's office. This role includes the supervision of the Law Enforcement Records department staff in the performance of a wide variety of clerical, secretarial, legal, and administrative support work; performs a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility; does related work as required.
Examples of Duties:
- Supervises, plans, organizes, schedules, assigns, and supervises various operations and activities relating to the receipt, preparation, processing, and maintenance of law enforcement records and files.
- Plans, organizes, schedules, motivates, trains, supervises, and evaluates the work of Sheriff's Clerks, Warrant Clerk, and Law Enforcement Records Clerk.
- Correlates and submits monthly reports to the Montana Board of Crime Control and FBI for their respective crime analysis and annual crime reports.
- Responds to and resolves inquiries from the general public.
- Participates in the preparation and administration of the assigned budget; submits budget requests, recommendations, and monitors expenditures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate's Degree in Office Management, Applied Supervision, Business Administration, or closely related field; and
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience in legal office management, law enforcement management, executive administration support, or closely related occupational experience; or
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience totaling four (4) years.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum of one (1) years' experience as a Sheriff's Clerk, Warrant Clerk, or Law Enforcement Records Clerk.
- Previous supervisory and/or office management experience.
- Strong computer and Microsoft office skills.
Certifications:
- CJIN/NCIC Level II certification (within six (6) month probationary period, if applicable).
- Terminal Administrator Coordinator certification (within six (6) month probationary period, if applicable).
- Notary Public licensed by the State of Montana, as appropriate.
