Overview
Strategic Technology Institute, Inc. (STi) is seeking an experienced
Senior Engineer Analyst – Air Warfare
to support a prospective contract award with
Commander Naval Surface Forces, U.S. Pacific Fleet (COMNAVSURFPAC) . This critical role supports the
Type Commander Material Inspection Team (TMIT)
at
Naval Base San Diego , providing technical expertise in air warfare systems during shipboard inspections, Readiness Evaluations (READ-E), and training assist visits (TAVs).
Key Responsibilities
Lead material inspections and readiness assessments of air warfare combat systems including AEGIS (SPY), SSDS, MK-99 FCS, VLS, dry air, cooling skids, and 400Hz distribution systems. Evaluate combat systems administrative programs such as FIS/RLP, Phase and Power Logs, and Smooth Logs. Train and mentor shipboard combat systems personnel during TAVs to prepare for INSURV and READ-E events. Conduct inspections in accordance with INSURV Inspection Guides (IIG) and SFTRM Chapter 6, documenting deficiencies and contributing to post-visit reports. Embark surface ships underway for multi-day support, performing demonstrations and verifying equipment readiness. Coordinate with ship and TYCOM leadership to provide technical recommendations and inspection deliverables.
Minimum Qualifications
Active Secret clearance at the time of application. High school diploma or equivalent. 20+ years of hands-on air warfare combat systems experience aboard U.S. Navy surface ships. Three (3) at-sea tours in a Combat Systems/AW capacity. Prior service as Systems Test Officer (STO), Electronic Material Officer (EMO), Combat Systems Maintenance Manager (CSMM), or LCPO of a Combat Systems department. Qualified Tactical Action Officer (TAO) on at least one platform. Working knowledge of: Combat system support systems: SPY, SSDS, MK-99 FCS, VLS, cooling systems, 400Hz, computers, displays Combat systems admin programs (FIS/RLP, Smooth Logs, Phase & Power) 3M/PMS, SFTRM Chapter 6, and INSURV IIGs Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM) – Volume 6, Chapter 5 (EOC definitions and scoring) Physically able to climb pilot ladders and embark Navy ships underway. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
25+ years of Navy surface ship combat systems experience. Retired LDO, CWO, or E8/E9. Experience with both AEGIS and SSDS platforms. Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) system experience. Prior service as an INSURV Inspector or with ATG/TYCOM in a pre-INSURV support role. Familiarity with Optimum Fleet Response Plan (OFRP). Strong written and oral communication skills.
