Senior Project Manager Healthcare
is a strategic and hands-on leader responsible for delivering complex healthcare projects from pursuit through closeout. This role requires deep healthcare industry experience, strong business development and preconstruction capabilities, and a proven ability to manage teams and clients with integrity and excellence. The Sr. Project Manager has direct responsibility for all aspects of a large, complex project or multiple small to mid-size projects. They lead across all phasesestimating, procurement, scheduling, financials, field execution, and client engagementwhile mentoring project teams and driving accountability. Success in this role depends on technical expertise, relationship-building, and a strong commitment to XLs culture and high standards.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Acquisition & Preconstruction
Lead new healthcare project pursuits, proposals, and strategy development Guide design-build and design-assist project planning Conduct conceptual estimating and unit cost development Develop and manage GMP estimates, internal budgets, and project schedules Plan and execute bid processes with a strong focus on risk mitigation and scope clarity Project Execution & Operations
Develop and manage contracts to reduce risk and maximize opportunities Lead subcontractor buyout, negotiation, and agreement execution Oversee all project phases: preconstruction, procurement, submittals, RFIs, cost forecasting, change orders, billing, and close-out Partner with Superintendents and field teams to ensure schedule adherence and quality delivery Ensure project permits, inspections, and compliance activities are well-coordinated and risk-free Client & Team Leadership
Maintain strong, proactive relationships with clients, designers, owner reps, and trade partners Lead OAC meetings and communications to ensure alignment and satisfaction Supervise and mentor project staff, ensuring their development in both technical and soft skills Champion XLs culture, values, and safety practices at all times KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field 10+ years of progressive experience , with a strong background in healthcare construction Proven project portfolio in Education, Life Sciences, Civic, and/or Healthcare sectors OSHA 10 certification; LEED AP and/or DBIA preferred Strong knowledge of all trades, MEP systems, and permitting processes Expertise with MS Project, PowerPoint, Timberline, and Viewpoint (Vista) Experience with complex delivery methods (Design-Build, GMP, IPD) Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills Strong leadership, mentoring, and team development capabilities COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
In accordance with Californias pay transparency requirements, the
base salary range for this position is $193,000 $203,000 annually , depending on experience and qualifications. Total compensation may also include performance-based bonuses.
