A nationally recognized engineering, construction, and consulting firm is seeking a

Traveling Construction Manager

to support utility and infrastructure projects across multiple job sites. This role is based out of the firm’s

Virginia office , with approximately

80% travel

to active construction locations throughout the region and beyond. The ideal candidate will have strong construction knowledge and field experience, with the ability to visit various sites regularly to monitor progress, safety, and quality, and report back to project leadership. Key Responsibilities: Conduct frequent site visits to assess construction progress, safety compliance, and quality standards Serve as a critical link between field operations and corporate teams by providing clear, timely reports Identify and communicate potential risks, delays, or challenges and collaborate with site teams to resolve issues Assist with scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and work package planning as needed Maintain accurate documentation of site activities and project milestones Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred) Up to 5 years of construction management or field oversight experience, ideally in power, industrial, or infrastructure projects Solid understanding of construction methods, safety standards, and job site coordination Strong communication and reporting skills Willingness to travel extensively (up to 80%) Based in or willing to commute to the Virginia area when not traveling This position offers an excellent opportunity for a motivated construction professional eager to take on a hands-on role that combines fieldwork with strategic project reporting.
