Essential Functions:
Coach chamber music groups as assigned following the Pre-College Academic Calendar August - May, annually
Teach the fundamentals and artistry of chamber music, including but not limited to score study and rehearsal preparation, leadership, collaboration, communication, musicianship, rehearsal techniques, performance practices, and stage deportment
Develop repertoire and rehearsal plans, as well as long-range teaching strategies in consultation with Ensemble Coordinators
Prepare performance materials including markings, edits, and any necessary modifications
Facilitate student logistics for rehearsals, dress rehearsals, concerts, and master classes
Provide routine assessment, feedback, and progress reports for students
Communicate in a timely manner with the Division Directors and Ensembles Coordinators
Attend chamber music coaching meetings as scheduled by the Ensembles Coordinator and Division Directors
Participate in Pre-College Division faculty meetings
Understand and support the entirety of the Pre-College curriculum and its related activities
Represent the Pre-College Division locally and nationally
Adhere to ensemble's budget as set forth by the Division Director
Perform other duties as assigned by the Division Directors
Requirements
Qualifications:
Demonstrate excellent musicianship and artistry as a performer, educator, and chamber musician A minimum of three (3) years professional experience working in the field of arts education with a four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent required A strong background and understanding of chamber music repertoire and pedagogy Ability to maintain strong working relationships with SFCM administrative staff and faculty Demonstrate strong leadership skills; maintain a good relationship with parents; demand a high standard of excellence while creating an encouraging, inspiring, and engaging experience for the students Successful completion of a criminal background check is required for the selected candidate
Salary Description
$90.00 per hour
