Join us in our fast-paced support to develop, advance, and sustain weapon systems for the U.S. Space Force (USSF) and its mission partners. You will be joining a team of personnel with experience and an in-depth understanding of the environments that include ground, near-space, space, and any system that operates in those environments to meet current and projected strategic, operational, and tactical needs for the Department of Defense (DoD). QinetiQ is a mission-led innovation company that works with the USSF and DoD to design, develop, field, and maintain requirements essential to national security and the survivability of the warfighter. We are seeking a Chief Space Engineer in Huntsville, AL. The position requires system of systems engineering expertise in highly classified space control, ground, and command and control (C2) systems, including concepts, development, build, and test. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience providing space engineering and technical advice and assistance for stages of the acquisition life cycle including reviewing and drafting JCIDS and other documentation such as Initial Capability Documents, Interface Control Document, Capability Development and Requirements Documents, Technical Evaluations, and System Specifications as well as knowledge with the latest applicable Government guidance. This position requires an individual who can work closely with technical teams, stakeholders, and partners to ensure program success. Responsibilities
Provide space acquisitions, engineering, operations, and technical advice and assistance for all projects and programs in support of acquisition life cycle stages including new/advanced C2 efforts Support for acquisition efforts related to advance technology, future concept development, and integration activities Provide operational engineering support to current and future developmental and operational units including coordinating system level test integration and activities Revise/draft JCIDS and acquisition documentation (e.g., ICDs, AoAs, CONOPs, etc.) Maintain awareness of current program schedule, monitor acquisition implementation, report requirement shortfalls, and provide program assessments Recommend viable solutions for technical anomalies Develop, deliver, review, and evaluate impact analysis, audits, studies, compliance inspections, and readiness reviews Required Qualifications
Expert in highly classified space control space, ground, and C2 systems (concepts, development, build, and test) Expert in maturing technologies through all TRL levels Expert in architecture and technical requirements development Highly knowledgeable in space situational awareness architecture development and capability limitations Expert in systems engineering and program management focused on development, testing, and employing information operations, space, and airborne systems Expert in space system design, development, integration, test, and operations Expert in multiple space control-related technologies, including but not limited to optical sensors, radar, electronic support, signals intelligence, and communications Highly knowledgeable in space control mission area Demonstrates ability to develop, update, and coordinate ACAT-like program documentation Highly knowledgeable in ground system design, development, integration, test, and operations Demonstrates ability to organize and conduct system level technical design reviews and audits 20 years experience with more than 7 related to system of systems engineering MA/MS degree TS/SCI, willing to take CI Polygraph QinetiQ US is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
