Senior Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer

Purpose
The Senior Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer plays a critical role in delivering high-quality design and drafting services to support complex engineering projects across the energy, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. This role supports the organization's mission of delivering innovative, safe, and sustainable solutions by providing advanced I&C design expertise from concept to completion. You will contribute to project success through technical excellence, collaboration, and a commitment to continuous improvement and safety.
Responsibilities
Develop and deliver discipline-specific instrumentation and controls (I&C) designs, drafting, and 3D modeling services in alignment with company standards, client expectations, and applicable codes and regulations. Apply recognized offshore and onshore design principles, standards, and practices in all aspects of I&C engineering. Interpret and incorporate data from P&IDs, one-line diagrams, loop diagrams, and other technical documentation. Conduct site visits and field verification to validate and update marked-up drawings. Collaborate effectively with clients, engineers, construction teams, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams throughout the design lifecycle. Support development of deliverables such as design drawings, 3D models, bills of materials, schedules, and material take-offs. Utilize electronic document management systems (EDMS) to organize and manage design documentation. Ensure design output is timely, accurate, and within defined scope and budget. Assist in the development and review of final project documentation, incorporating client feedback and internal quality standards. Continuously seek and implement process improvements, technological advancements, and innovative approaches to enhance design efficiency and integrity.
What You Will Bring
Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements:
Technical Competencies
Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and SmartPlant Instrumentation (Intools). Strong understanding of I&C design standards, including the ability to interpret and update P&IDs, loop drawings, and one-line diagrams. Proficient in 3D modeling and drafting software tools, with the ability to generate accurate and detailed deliverables. Skilled in organizing and managing complex design data from multiple sources. Experience conducting field verification and site walks to validate design intent and drawing accuracy.
Industry Experience
Demonstrated experience in a related field such as engineering design, operations, construction, maintenance, fabrication, or environmental services.
Technology & Systems
Competency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams. Familiarity with navigating intranet portals and electronic documentation systems (EDMS).
Soft Skills & Attributes
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to work independently and take initiative while collaborating effectively with project stakeholders. Comfortable working in dynamic project environments and adapting to evolving requirements. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities; able to manage complex design issues with minimal guidance. Willingness and ability to work onsite as required, including participation in field activities and walkdowns.
Additional Information
This position will be based in the Englewood/Denver, CO area. Salary: $103,163 to $151,710 annually commensurate with experience. Benefits: eligible for PTO, 401k, medical, vision, dental, etc.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:
Associate degree in a technical discipline (Instrumentation, Electrical Design, or related field).
Preferred
Prior experience supporting offshore and/or onshore projects is preferred.
