As a member of the Corporate Development team, you will play a critical role in supporting the execution of Blue Shield of California’s inorganic growth activities to accelerate the enterprise’s strategic plan. You will support this dynamic team and partner with cross-functional colleagues in sourcing and evaluating acquisition and investment opportunities. The ideal candidate has investment banking or management consulting experience with demonstrated knowledge of the merger and acquisition process and a strong understanding of the healthcare industry. Your Role
As a member of the Corporate Development team, you will play a critical role in supporting the execution of Blue Shield of California’s inorganic growth activities to accelerate the enterprise’s strategic plan. You will support this dynamic team and partner with cross-functional colleagues in sourcing and evaluating acquisition and investment opportunities. The ideal candidate has investment banking or management consulting experience with demonstrated knowledge of the merger and acquisition process and a strong understanding of the healthcare industry. This role reports to a Senior Director, Corporate Development.
Responsibilities
Your Work
In this role, you will:
Support business case development for potential acquisitions and investments, including building financial models, conducting valuation analysis, and developing presentations Support the due diligence process in partnership with cross-functional stakeholders Partner with internal leaders to understand strategic objectives and needs of the enterprise Foster relationships with internal and external partners in the healthcare marketplace to expand the enterprise’s acquisition and investment pipeline Monitor new developments within the healthcare industry to identify potential acquisitions and investments opportunities
Qualifications
Your Knowledge and Experience
Requires a Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting strongly or greater preferred Requires 3+ years of investment banking, management consulting, private equity, or corporate development experience; prior placement in or alignment with healthcare sector Demonstrated experience with the merger and acquisition process Proficiency in financial modeling; able to build detailed financial models and valuation analyses Proficiency in developing presentations and investment memos Strong attention to detail Robust analytical and critical thinking skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Two Ways of Working:
Hybrid (Default): Work from a business unit-approved office at least two (2) times per month (for roles below Director-level) or once per week (for Director-level roles and above).Exceptions: Member-facing and approved out-of-state roles remain remote. Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits. For employees with medical conditions that may impact their ability to work in-office, we are committed to engaging in an interactive process and providing reasonable accommodations to ensure their work environment is conducive to their success and well-being. On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork - Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
