Description
This role is a strategic leadership role responsible for developing and executing continuous improvement and performance management strategies across the pharmaceutical manufacturing and packaging plant. This role ensures operational processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with overall business objectives. A key focus of the role is to establish and manage the plant’s operational excellence system, including strategic goal setting, performance tracking, and monthly dashboard reviews. The role leads lean, Six Sigma, and business process improvement initiatives that drive productivity, quality, and compliance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
Operational Excellence System & Performance Management
Design, implement, and manage the plant’s Operational Excellence (OpEx) system to ensure structured performance improvement across departments. Establish clear performance goals and KPIs aligned with plant and corporate objectives. Lead the preparation and facilitation of monthly operational reviews, including performance dashboards, gap analysis, and corrective action planning. Ensure alignment between long-term strategic initiatives and daily plant operations through effective communication and accountability mechanisms. Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement Initiatives Lead cross-functional teams in identifying, planning, and executing process improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, and other OpEx methodologies. Champion a data-driven problem-solving culture that continuously identifies and eliminates inefficiencies and non-value-added activities. Collaborate with manufacturing, packaging, quality, engineering, and supply chain teams to streamline workflows, reduce cycle times, and optimize resource utilization. Compliance, Quality, and Regulatory Standards Ensure all OpEx initiatives and process changes comply with GMP, FDA, and other applicable regulatory requirements. Support quality investigations, CAPAs, and audits by driving root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions. Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure that operational changes maintain or improve product quality and regulatory compliance. Capability Building & Change Leadership Develop and deliver training programs to build internal expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools. Coach and mentor plant leadership and frontline teams on applying OpEx principles and sustaining improvements. Lead change management efforts to support the adoption of new processes, technologies, and behaviors throughout the organization. Innovation & Technology Enablement Identify and support the implementation of new technologies, digital tools, and automation to improve plant performance and reliability. Drive innovation by encouraging experimentation and piloting of new approaches to enhance operational excellence. Recruits, trains, develops and manages effectively the ongoing performance of their direct reports, which includes, but is not limited to: Ensuring all Job Descriptions for direct reports are periodically reviewed, signed and stored according to our job description processes; Reviewing and updating development plans for all direct reports, ensuring that all direct reports are properly trained and qualified according to our Training and Employee Qualification Enterprise Policy; Effectively managing performance for direct reports according to the Performance Management Program, Attracting and retaining talent based on our talent management framework; Scheduling regular one-on-one meetings, probationary performance reviews and mid-year performance discussions; Providing regular coaching, feedback and recognition based on the expected behaviors, job description and performance on objectives; and Responsible to ensure compliance of team members (direct reports) with the Business Ethics and Compliance Program, Quality procedures, Safety and Environment policies, and HR policies. Works as a member of a team to achieve all outcomes; Leads with a mindset that respects all cultural dimensions; Performs all work in accordance with our Code of Conduct and Business Ethics, and all established regulatory, compliance and safety requirements All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred). Lean Six Sigma certification (Black Belt or Master Black Belt strongly preferred). 10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, with at least 5 years in an operational excellence, continuous improvement, or process optimization leadership role. Strong track record of leading cross-functional improvement initiatives and delivering measurable results. In-depth knowledge of GMP, FDA regulations, and other applicable industry standards

Strong project management and prioritization skills in a fast-paced, regulated environment. Expertise in lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and performance measurement systems. Strong understanding of GMP regulatory requirements Proficient in data analysis, process improvement tools, and digital OE systems. Skilled in change management, strategic execution, and team coaching. Ability to drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
