Job Description:
We're looking for a hands-on Alarm Integration Technician with a basic understanding of IP networking and telecom equipment. You'll help ensure SNMP traps and alarms are properly configured and reporting into Spectrum, working closely with both the Transport and Spectrum teams.
Responsibilities:
The Senior Product Specialist will be responsible for the following. The list is not all-inclusive, and additional tasks may be assigned:
Key Responsibilities: Device Research & Validation Identify and validate network equipment using internal tools (e.g., Telenium). Confirm if devices support SNMP traps and locate MIBs (Management Information Bases). Conduct web searches and consult documentation to gather necessary equipment specifications.
Alarm & SNMP Trap Configuration Review and rationalize alarms (type, severity, response). Change SNMP trap settings in lab environments and ensure correct name, location, and trap destination settings. Validate alarm reporting to Spectrum and ensure it is non-service-affecting.
Testing & Troubleshooting Perform basic IP networking tests (ping, telnet, traceroute). Use test sets to confirm trap configurations and alarm propagation. Troubleshoot DNS issues using Infoblox or related DNS systems. Update node names and locations on production equipment as needed.
Cross-Team Collaboration Coordinate with the Transport and Spectrum Teams to ensure successful alarm integration. Provide required MIBs to the Spectrum Team and assist in validation. Escalate issues and create work orders (WO) or incident tickets (INC) as required.

Proficient in the installation and configuration of Broadcom (CA) DX NetOps solutions: Spectrum, PM, NFA Proficient in supporting Broadcom (CA) DX NetOps solutions for network system monitoring (routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, wireless) Proficient in integrating Broadcom NetOps (DX NetOps, Spectrum, NFA, PM) with Broadcom solutions: Infrastructure Manager (UIM), AIOps (Operational Intelligence Dashboard) Proficient in integrating Broadcom NetOps solutions with third-party Remedy Service Desk Proficient in planning for the installation of hardware, software, sizing, etc. Familiarity with Remedy - creating, working incident, change, and work order tickets Certificate management Familiarity with supporting monitoring tools for network solutions Familiarity with networking protocols (e.g., SNMP, MPLS) Work closely with Windows, UNIX, Network, Application teams, and Broadcom Support BA/BS in Computer Science, IT Networking, Security, or related technical degree Desired Skills / Experience:
10+ years' experience in supporting Network Fault Management tools in large enterprises 10+ years' experience in supporting Network Performance Management tools in large enterprises 5 years' experience supporting Broadcom (CA) NetOps (DX NetOps, Spectrum, NFA, PM) Experience creating/maintaining integration between Broadcom AIOps solutions (e.g., DX NetOps to Operational Intelligence Dashboard) Managing product licenses Reviewing and installing new patches for applications Knowledge of Python, PERL, Groovy, or other monitoring-related programming languages Equipment Required:
