Join PathGroup and be part of a dynamic team dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. The Phlebotomist Traveler will play a crucial role in performing vital phlebotomy activities in our Patient Service Centers (PSC) and through In-office Phlebotomy (IOP).
Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist Traveler, under the direction of the area supervisor, is responsible for conducting daily phlebotomy activities accurately and punctually. This role requires travel to client locations as needed, with short notice. You will interact with patients, clients, and fellow team members in a professional manner, providing both forensic and clinical specimen collection with confidence.
Essential Functions:
Be ready to travel as assigned within a designated region.
Provide a warm welcome to customers and ensure courteous treatment.
Collect specimens accurately and within the required timeframe according to established procedures.
Explain the venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and calmly to reduce patient anxiety.
Carefully dispose of biohazardous materials in compliance with all applicable standards.
Complete requisitions with precision and ensure data entry into the computer system is accurate.
Communicate effectively with clients to confirm orders and verify information.
Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes and label, centrifuge, and store specimens correctly.
Maintain thorough records and documentation of all phlebotomy activities.
Perform basic clerical tasks, such as filing and data entry.
Adhere to professional grooming standards and company policies at all times.
Work collaboratively in a supportive and positive environment.
Utilize proper PPE to ensure safety and follow all laboratory safety protocols.
Engage in continuous learning and comply with the Corporate Compliance Program and all relevant policies.
Education & Licensure:
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Medical training (as a medical assistant or paramedic) is preferred.
Phelbotomist Certification is preferred (required in Louisiana).
Requirements:
1-3 years of relevant experience is required.
Reliable transportation access and proof of auto insurance are necessary.
A valid driver's license with at least one year of driving experience.
Less than 3 minor moving violation convictions within the previous 3 years.
Willingness to travel and stay overnight if required.
