This position requires onsite presence 5 days a week at our project site in Scott AFB.
About The Job
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Database Administrator to support geospatial data systems critical to Air Force missions. This role leads efforts to migrate Oracle databases to PostgreSQL, ensuring compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) standards.
Job Functions:
Designs, develops, and maintains PostgreSQL databases with PostGIS extensions for geospatial data. Administers Oracle databases and ensures compatibility and interoperability with existing systems. Manages database configurations, indexing, and optimization for performance and scalability. Leads migration efforts from Oracle to PostgreSQL, including planning, execution, and post-migration support. Conducts assessments of existing Oracle databases and develops migration strategies. Creates tools and scripts to automate data migration processes between Oracle and PostgreSQL. Troubleshoots and resolves data compatibility and performance issues during migrations. Applies, configures, and validates Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) quarterly to ensure database systems meet DoD cybersecurity requirements. Conducts regular vulnerability assessments, risk analysis, and mitigation for PostgreSQL and Oracle databases Documents and reports compliance statuses and remediation efforts. Collaborates with security teams to address findings from security audits and inspections. Ensures compliance with Air Force cybersecurity and data security standards. Performs database backups, disaster recovery planning, and regular system updates. Works closely with analysts, engineers, and IT teams to align geospatial systems with operational goals.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, or other related field or equivalent experience 3+ years’ experience in database administration with focus on PostGres Must hold or be eligible to obtain a Secret or higher-level security clearance Experience in database design and performance tuning using PostgreSQL and PostGIS Demonstrated experience migrating Oracle databases to PostgreSQL, including resolving compatibility issues Experience implementing and maintaining STIG compliance for databases Advanced knowledge of PostgreSQL and PostGIS Proficiency in Oracle database administration, with experience supporting geospatial data Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, SQL, PL/pgSQL, or PL/SQL) for data processing Relevant certifications such as PostgreSQL Certified Developer or Oracle Certified Professional; preferred Security certifications like CompTIA Security+ or CISSP; preferred Understanding of Air Force operations and geospatial requirements; preferred
