Primary Responsibility The Desktop Operations Engineer is a forward-thinking IT professional responsible for ensuring optimal desktop computing infrastructure and endpoint operations across our environment. Under the supervision of the Director of Technical Support Services, this role covers traditional desktop support and integrates modern endpoint management, including cloud and mobile device management (MDM), application management, IT security fundamentals, and server-level administration. The successful candidate will be proficient with tools such as Microsoft Endpoint Manager/Intune, Autopilot, Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager, Jamf Pro for Apple devices, Active Directory, and Entra ID/Azure. They will collaborate with IT peers, technicians, and clients to ensure computer images, deployments, software, and system customizations meet high standards of reliability, scalability, and security, aligned with industry best practices and departmental policies. Qualifications Standards Education and experience sufficient to meet the position's demands are required. Examples include a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field with five years of relevant experience, or equivalent education and experience demonstrating the necessary skills and knowledge. Desired certifications include CompTIA A+, Net+, Security+, Project+, Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator Associate, M365 Administrator, Apple Certified Support Professional, Jamf 100/200, among others. Special Skills or Abilities Experience managing Windows, macOS, and mobile environments with at least 500 Windows devices Experience with MECM, MEM/Intune, Jamf Pro, Active Directory, and Entra ID for device and application management Experience with Windows server administration and data storage management on file and cloud servers Knowledge of security implementation and monitoring Leadership and project management skills Effective communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work under deadlines and supervise staff and students We value a welcoming, innovative environment focused on student success. Salary and Benefits Hiring range: $89,532.59 - $99,480.65 annually, commensurate with qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, retirement, tuition reimbursement, and more. Minimum Qualifications Essential Duties: Provide user and site technology support Administer and maintain hardware, software, and IT systems Manage data storage and recovery operations Develop documentation and train personnel Deliver customer service and lead IT projects Supervision and Conditions Reports to the Director of Technical Support Services and may supervise part-time staff. Must pass background checks, adhere to safety policies, and may require travel, evenings, and weekends.
