FPGA/ASIC Design Engineer
for a
1-year contract-to-hire
opportunity supporting advanced R&D programs in
Sunnyvale, California . This position focuses on high-speed digital design and system-on-chip (SoC) implementations for next-generation aerospace and defense applications. The ideal candidate will have experience with
FPGA development ,
digital signal processing (DSP) , and
embedded systems , and will play a key role in cross-functional product development.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field Proven experience in
ASIC/FPGA development , integration, and testing Strong background in
DSP, high-speed digital design, and SoC architectures Proficiency with
FPGA toolchains and development flows , including synthesis, simulation, and place-and-route Experience with
COTS-based control platforms
and
embedded processors on FPGA platforms Skilled in scripting and automation to optimize FPGA development processes Ability to collaborate with
systems architects ,
RF/analog , and
digital circuit designers Capable of mentoring and supporting junior engineers Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with
VHDL and/or Verilog Experience with
Xilinx, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi
FPGA platforms Experience in
multi-Gbps high-speed communication protocols Understanding of
networking standards and integration
in complex systems Previous experience in
aerospace, defense, or mission-critical electronics environments Experience with
lab validation, system bring-up, and debugging tools
(e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) Key Responsibilities:
Develop and test FPGA and ASIC components for advanced digital systems Design and implement DSP algorithms and high-speed interfaces Integrate SoC solutions on FPGA platforms for real-time processing Automate workflows to improve development efficiency Participate in design reviews, simulations, and validation procedures Collaborate across hardware, systems, and software disciplines to meet product goals Support system-level integration and test efforts Provide mentorship and technical leadership for junior engineers
