Reporting to the Executive Director Apprenticeship and Workforce Solutions, the Director - Apprenticeship & Workforce Solutions is responsible for cultivating and building strategic partnerships with industry and business partners, working closely with employers to create apprenticeship and other work-based learning programs (i.e. internships, earn and learn), offering talented and motivated students opportunities for job training and work experience with pay, and a pathway to college completion and upwardly mobile careers. The Director - Apprenticeship & Workforce Solutions works collaboratively with the Executive Director in soliciting, securing, and maintaining sponsor/employer partnerships to create apprenticeship and work-based learning opportunities, with the goal of creating new sources of talent and helping students gain on-the-job experience and build job-ready skills that meet the workforce needs of employers. Performs related duties as assigned. Essential Duties Supports the Executive Director in developing strategies to create, expand, maintain work-based learning programs, with a focus on creating apprenticeships in sectors that have not typically used apprenticeships to bring new employees into the workforce including, but not limited to IT, banking and finance, insurance, manufacturing, food services, and healthcare. Develops and deploys marketing strategies in coordination with Marketing and Communications aimed at local and regional industry, business, and civic partners to promote CCCs goal of increasing work-based learning opportunities that are directly aligned to CCCs academic and continuing education programs. Works closely with the Chicago Apprentice Network, participating on various outreach initiatives to the business community to grow apprenticeship and work-based learning opportunities. Identifies, negotiates, closes and manages partnerships that will broaden industry/market reach and accelerate apprenticeship and internship growth. Manages logistics of formalizing employer partnerships including the execution of agreements (MOUs) to ensure clear expectations are established. Collects employer partner feedback on desired skills for new hires and/or hard to fill positions as well as overall program design and logistics and work cross-functionally with college teams to incorporate that feedback into the development of apprenticeships. Accountable for working with external partners to acquire targeted employment commitments and work-based learning commitments. Provides timely and accurate reporting of pipeline, strategic partnerships and management activities. Works with the Executive Director to take a consultative approach to determine employer needs and assist in the development of programs and customized trainings to meet their needs while ensuring alignment to district/colleges strategic plans. Stays current on industry trends through research, affiliation with professional organizations, and attending conferences and seminars as needed. Manages relationships for portfolio of active employer partners in a partnership database (Salesforce/CRM), including assessment of partner value, prioritization of sectors, and development of future strategic partnerships. Develops relationships with college teams to create a collaborative partnership development process and the opportunity for integrated partnerships. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to structure and execute apprenticeships, work-based learning experiences and initiatives, lead analysis and develop and communicate recommendations for growing partner relationships. Working with CCC teams, establishes and manages grants to ensure compliance. Reporting Relationships Reports To Exec Dir-Apprenticeship & Workforce Solution Direct Supervision None Qualifications Masters degree from an accredited college or university in business, marketing, public administration or a related field. Five years of experience in consulting/strategic planning/business development/account management/sales or related experience preferred. 1-3 years of experience in workforce development or career technical education (CTE) experience preferred. Experience working in a higher education environment desirable. Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing apprenticeship and work-based learning programs preferred. Experience developing and/or marketing customized or contract training programs to meet business/industry need desirable. Experience with CRM tools (Salesforce, etc.). Successful track record of pipeline management desirable. Proven ability to negotiate and work with high level executives. Strong relationship building skills and an entrepreneurial approach that leverages further opportunities. Demonstrated drive to solve problems in a matrix team environment and leading with high energy and a positive attitude. Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work within a culturally diverse environment. Ability to travel to meet and liaise with potential partners and clients. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams). Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as other factors such as internal equity.
