Attributes Sciences is seeking a highly motivated
Research Scientist
with a strong expertise in viral vector characterization to support the development of Kite’s cell therapy products. The role involves designing, planning, and executing studies to understand vector quality attributes, working cross-functionally to improve viral vector manufacturing processes, and mentoring junior team members. Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Design and execute analytical studies on viral vector identity, purity, potency, and genome integrity. Develop and optimize cell-based, molecular, and immunoassay methods to assess vector attributes. Lead or support studies evaluating vector quality after manufacturing changes or technology transfer. Serve as scientific lead on analytical development initiatives. Identify and evaluate emerging technologies for vector quality assessment. Participate in cross-functional initiatives on manufacturing or process changes impacting vector quality. Collaborate with external partners on new analytical platforms. Stay updated on scientific literature and developments in relevant fields. Author and review protocols, reports, and regulatory documents. Work independently on development activities and project goals. Document experiments accurately in ELN and reports. Present findings internally and contribute to filings and patents. Mentor junior staff in virology, immunology, and cell biology concepts. Basic Qualifications:
Ph.D/PharmD with 0-2+ years of experience; OR MA/MS/MBA with 6+ years of relevant experience; OR BA/BS with 8+ years of relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications:
Background in virology, molecular biology, or gene therapy, especially lentiviral or retroviral vectors. Experience with flow cytometry, ddPCR, ELISA, and related techniques. Knowledge of vector quality attributes and regulatory expectations. Experience with comparability strategies or process impact assessments. Proficiency in data analysis software like FlowJo, JMP, Prism, Office. Strong collaboration and communication skills. Scientific publications and conference participation preferred. Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and a team player. Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills. Ability to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
