LifeServe Blood Center is seeking candidates for our Operations Director of Central Region II. As long as you are within the region, this could be the job for you! Central Region II includes LifeServe operations out of Ames, Marshalltown, and Mason City. Candidates will be required to provide a current resume, cover letter, and complete a small project to be considered for this position. Operations Directors provide day-to-day management of activities and tasks associated with the business units assigned to the region while adhering to cost-effective and efficient guidelines with a focus on quality and customer service outcomes. Functional business units within this region may include blood collections (mobile and donor center operations), therapeutic services, product management, and product distribution. Specific roles, based on regional business needs are listed below. Donor Centers: Ames, Marshalltown, Mason City Mobiles: Mason City Product Management & Distribution: Mason City Essential Duties And Responsibilities: Provides day-to-day management of implementing decision-making duties for activities and tasks associated with the functional business units assigned to this region while adhering to cost-effective and efficient guidelines with a focus on quality and customer service outcomes in the following areas: Provides daily management of mobile blood drives and donor center collection operations as assigned in region. Responsible for daily blood collection activities (mobile and donor center) that lead to the attainment of organizational weekly, monthly, and yearly blood collection targets. Accountability for supply and resources needs for mobile and donor center collection operations while assuming responsibility for the efficient use of supplies and resources needed to reach designated blood collection goals. Based upon regional business needs, may include: Providing management and direction for therapeutic services and procedures to deliver optimal patient care while following all medical and quality regulations and policies. Providing management and direction for component manufacturing ensuring all processes are followed according to regulatory standards. Providing management direction for product management and distribution, ensuring processes are followed according to internal and/or regulatory standards. Supports the development of procedures and/or implements quality improvement initiatives/controls that assess team member skills to ensure achievement of organizational goals and objectives. Supports the development of procedures, quality improvement initiatives/controls that assess staff skills to ensure donor collections and therapeutic services and responsible for implementation. Provides direct supervision and leadership to exempt and non-exempt team members (i.e., hire, orient, train, mentor, and evaluate assigned staff); assess skills, identify shortfalls, develop training needs, and conduct regular one-on-one meetings. Responsible for all needs of assigned facilities in conjunction with Facility Department to ensure facility meets the standards required and desired for all operational needs. Based on regional business needs may include: Implementing, assessing, and providing guidance and feedback regarding performance standards of activities of blood collection, and therapeutic services, product management and distribution, and component manufacturing. Uses data to disseminate/interpret information, manage schedules, maintain expertise, provide advice, and deliver presentations. Accountable to ensures budget and financial objectives are met. Monitors operations to ensure a high quality of customer service and donor loyalty; resolve problems; evaluate productivity goal attainment. Provides motivation and development for subordinates which may include others who have direct reports. To be available and physically present throughout the assigned region. May require occasional evening or weekend accessibility by phone or email. Travel required within assigned region. Authority to recommend personnel decisions such as hiring, promotion, performance evaluation, coaching, disciplinary action, and terminations. Responsible for development of leaders throughout the organization by being a role model of high-level leadership behaviors and through the implementation of leadership development opportunities and regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings. Maintains regular attendance and availability. Maintains confidentiality of LifeServe Blood Center donors, team members, volunteers, financial and proprietary records, and information at all times. Qualifications: Ability to analyze, interpret and manage financial resources. Ability to multi-task and set priorities. Demonstrated ability to motivate and lead is essential. Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the organization's mission. Demonstrates professional behavior at all times. Supervisory Responsibilities: Site Supervisor I Site Supervisor II Mobile Supervisor Hospital Services Supervisor Education And/Or Experience: Associate's degree or equivalent is required. Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred. Five (5) years of blood-banking experience with operational knowledge required. Current, valid driver's license and motor vehicle report meeting insurability requirements. Physical Demands: These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Sit, stand, walk, twist/turn, stoop/bend, squat, climb, balance, reach above shoulder, use of hand/wrist to include fine/simple/gross motor skills and machinery usage, lifting/carrying 11-25 lbs.
