Description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer IV to join our growing team in the DFW, Texas area. This role involves designing conveyor driven parcel/package and letter sorting systems including custom PCBs, conveyors, stackers, camera identification systems, and print/labeling systems. The engineer will ensure product functionality, technical design, and development of electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical systems. Responsibilities include creating electrical design packages, collaborating with project teams, and supporting quality control testing. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated problem solver with a passion for learning and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimate and meet delivery deadlines while keeping projects on schedule and within budget.
- Identify and resolve performance and operational challenges.
- Provide feedback and support strategic decisions for system functionality and performance.
- Work within budget constraints and quoted pricing proposals.
- Manage and resolve escalated operational issues.
- Communicate effectively within the team and across departments.
- Review and approve engineering work products including drawings and designs.
- Conduct quality assurance tests to verify project outcomes.
Experience and Responsibilities
- Select replacements for obsolete PCB and system components.
- Redesign unmaintainable PCBs.
- Debug PCB/system issues.
- Develop new product designs from concept to production.
- Manage BOMs using SYSPRO software.
- Maintain revision control and data management using ECN procedures.
- Ensure compliance with international electrical and safety codes (UL, CSA, NEC, IEC, CE).
- Develop schematic and wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions.
- Create control panel layouts for motor control and power distribution.
- Report project status to Project and Engineering Managers.
- Maintain and support PCB designs and field installations.
- Support control and power designs for sorting systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or 7+ years of relevant experience.
- 3+ years of PCB design experience.
- 7+ years in electrical engineering or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with complex electromechanical systems.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, MS Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity with PLC-based control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and system design skills.
- Experience with production-supportive product structures.
- Experience with Altium PCB CAD software.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD/DraftSight.
- Knowledge of Allen Bradley, Schneider, ABB, and Siemens control products.
- Understanding of network protocols (Ethernet TCP/IP, EtherCat, Modbus).
- Experience with VFDs for motor control.
- Basic knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and UL508A.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in SolidWorks Electrical.
- Lift a minimum of 30 pounds from ground to chest level.
- Unimpaired speech, hearing, and sight.
- Ability to sit, reach, climb, stand, walk, and lift intermittently.
- Ability to stand and walk on cement surfaces.
- Willingness to travel up to 25% as needed.
