Acts under the direction of the Captain — Field Operations and/or Operations Administrator.
Maintains a positive and respectful attitude.
Works with other department supervisors to ensure proper management of systems, reports issues to superiors as necessary.
Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and the ability to prioritize duties.
Maintains appropriate customer relations.
Operates in accordance with NYS and regional guidelines as a Paramedic.
Assists Lieutenants in staffing, counseling, and guiding subordinate staff; reviews activities and provides leadership.
Fosters a harmonious, inclusive work environment and models appropriate workplace behavior reflecting Empress Ambulance Service values.
Ensures the professional and technical development of staff, providing feedback on performance.
Oversees shift activities and handles issues during their shift.
Adheres to Empress EMS policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and addressing deficiencies.
Informs and educates subordinate staff on policy or protocol changes.
Responds to personnel issues per established policies, guiding staff through subordinate supervisors.
Provides shift coverage for the Field Supervisor group.
Safely operates emergency vehicles during emergency and non-emergency modes.
Provides and evaluates emergency medical care as needed.
Completes all required shift documentation.
Acts within the Incident Command System framework.
Subject to off-duty emergency recall.
Recommends changes to policies, guidelines, protocols, and procedures.
Coordinates restocking, record keeping, and deployment of controlled substances, reporting issues to the Controlled Substance Agent.
Responds to major incidents, fulfilling roles within the Incident Command System.
Oversees service delivery aspects including documentation, communication, quality of care, training, operations, system status, customer relations, and problem resolution.
Effectively communicates information and responds to questions from various stakeholders.
Performs other duties as assigned by superiors.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED.
Valid NYS Paramedic Certification.
Valid Hudson Valley and Westchester REMAC Certifications.
Minimum of 3 years of full-time experience as a NYS Paramedic or 1 year of 911 experience.
Ability to lift, carry, and balance up to 125 pounds (250 pounds with assistance).
Proficiency in all duties performed by subordinates.
Good interpersonal and communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Advanced knowledge of the Incident Command System.
Ability to teach skills to others.
Working knowledge of EMS Systems, Private Ambulance, and Medical Transportation Systems.
